International European Polyphony Festival
The multidisciplinary European Polyphony Festival, A Cultural Hub
Festival Launch
For the eighth consecutive year, Rhodes welcomes the European Polyphony Festival, an international institution dedicated to classical music, visual arts, and cinema. From September 28 to October 10, 2026, the island will host a rich and multidimensional program of events, including music concerts, exhibitions, musical and historical walks, educational music workshops, a spectacular outdoor aerial music concert, as well as many more surprises. The Festival has established itself as a benchmark for the cultural life of Rhodes, attracting acclaimed as well as emerging artists from Greece and all across Europe. Its goal is to highlight artistic polyphony and enhance dialogue between different cultures through the common language of art.
Set against the backdrop of Rhodes' rich history and unique landscape, the Festival invites the public to an exceptional cultural experience that combines tradition with contemporary artistic creation.
A Festival for everyone
The Festival, for two weeks, transforms the Medieval City of Rhodes into an active music workshop, allowing the public to participate in numerous interactive music workshops and concerts with the participation of internationally renowned artists and musical ensembles. It is a new way of introduction of the public to classical music through art.
One of the main goals of the Festival is to empower young people through art and contribute to the promotion of the island of Rhodes as one of the important artistic capitals in Europe.
A High-Level Artistic Event
In this year's artistic program, the Mediterranean backdrop meets French culture, creating a fertile dialogue of cultures. Major international and Greek artists participate in the program, such as Nikos Kypourgos, the vocal ensemble Dulci Jubilo under the artistic direction of Christopher Gibert, the octet of the French choir Mikrokosmos Choir, the distinguished Greek composer Savvas Karantzias, violinist Chrysanthos Antoniou, Professor Spyros Syropoulos, as well as many remarkable artists and children's choirs from Rhodes.
Compagnie Transe Express returns to Rhodes with the spectacular program “Maudits Sonnants / The Accursed Bellringers”, presenting an original and unexpected aerial spectacle that brings smiles and excitement to young and old alike. A poetic and unexpected outdoor performance, a celestial spectacle that transforms public space into a dream stage. Strange and theatrical figures, with humor and virtuosity, meet around the Celestial Carillon. The bells chime in a moment of collective harmony, and as the characters slowly rise into the air, the audience is carried away into a breathtaking vision that offers a rare sense of eternity. Without any electronic amplification, the sounds travel throughout the entire city, creating an enchanting experience of celebration, emotion, and shared participation.
